Willow Creek Pony Club

Willow Creek Pony Club is in the Western Ontario region, with members from various points in Bruce County (Kincardine, Port Elgin, Inverhuron, Tiverton, etc).

At this time, we currently have 14 members, the youngest being 6, and the oldest being 18. Our members range from E (entry) to a C rated member.

While January is the best time of year to join Pony Club, as most branches' education calendars begin at this time, new members are welcome at any point in the year. Some activities (Regional mounted competition) require a tested level rating to participate, but all branch activities are open to any member at any time.

It is actually very helpful (for us) if members complete their "next year" application in November - that way we have OEF confirmations and everything in place for the start of the new year. For 2011, Memberships for juniors are $175 - this includes the $100 National/Regional fees, the $25 branch fee and the $50 OEF jr. fee. For senior members (18 as of Jan 01) your OEF fee is $60, for a total of $185. If you've already gotten your OEF, we require a photocopy of the membership card, or the online confirmation showing you've renewed it and that is has been successfully processed. Your membership fee would be reduced accordingly.

CPC strongly encourages members, including new members, to get their OEF through the Branch DC, as we get priority processing and then have the required proof of membership.

The minimum joining age is 6 years old, and a member must be 7 (as of January 1st in any given year) to test a level and compete regionally. Pony Club is a great club for any pony or horse crazy kid to learn all about equine care, stable management and horses themselves. Our branch members are very supportive of one another and we have team spirit in abundance! Come learn with us!

Much of our unmounted education will take place twice monthly from January through May, with meetings held in various appropriate locations. In the summer months we plan to hold clinics on different topics and mounted practices in different venues. We strongly encourage parental involvement at all levels and are a 'hands-on' kind of club. For any member to compete or participate at the regional level, a parent volunteer must be available to help out.
